While the new student – a female freshman who was quiet – waltzed around the college campus, the sounds of gunshots rang throughout the sky, but they were unheard to her. The freshman looked around the area, wondering where most of her classes were located. Taking the map she had printed off not too long ago, she glanced at it and began her search for her missing classes. As she located each of the buildings and most of the classrooms, the last building she was to take a class at was surrounded by several police cars. Tilting her head, she ducked under the yellow “Crime Scene: DO NOT ENTER” tape surrounding the entrance and ventured to discover what had occurred.

The first few things that crossed her mind were whether it had been a robbery or an assault that had occurred a while ago. Before long, though, her question had been answered with the scene of the crime. The signs that showed a number were scattered across the crime scene, and police officers were talking to those who happened to be witnesses or suspects to what had occurred in the area. Wondering what had happened, the first instinct was to ask, but due to an unknown reason, she kept to herself, not wanting to interfere with the others’ work. Among the scene, the evidence happens to be the only thing that she can see; what she wanted to listen, though, remained mysterious to her.

Upon being seen, a male detective walked over to her and asked her something. As if she did not understand, she tilted her head and tried to figure out what he was trying to say by reading his lips. With a sudden realization, the detective pulled out a pen and a piece of paper to write down. As she pondered what he was asking, he showed the message he was trying to ask her just a few seconds ago: “Do you know what had happened here?”

In response, she shook her head and made a signal, which had apparently confused the poor detective. As if an idea popped into his mind, he grabs the closest witness – a male skateboarder – to him and tells him something unknowable to the man. Nodding in understanding, he began asking the girl what the detective asked him. In confusion, she raised an eyebrow and tried to translate what he was saying via reading his lips. Confused, the skateboarder continued to ask the same question, getting louder and louder as if she cannot hear her. The only reaction he could get: a simple shake of the head from her.

With an exasperated sigh, the detective called for a teacher – who was to teach a class another language she was fluent in – to talk to her. Understanding the problem at hand, she began to speak in the second language she was to eventually teach. The girl now was even more confused than before, as while she was trying to read her lips, they were moving so fast she thought that she could possibly be from another area. Scratching her head, the teacher asked what the detective constantly asked the girl the question that was to be answered. Upon getting silence for an answer, the teacher shrugged and told the detective something, then walked away as if nothing had happened.

Ready to give up, the detective ordered the police officers to do something even the girl did not understand. The same officers questioned the girl about what had occurred, and one by one, she looked at all of them with a look of confusion. As soon as the students and teachers were adjourned to their classes, the officers and detective stayed in place, looking and wondering about who could commit this crime. While doing so, the male skateboarder led the girl to one of the classes she was to attend, as he was heading over to the area anyways. With a nod thanking him for the walk, they went their separate ways, heading to their destinations.

When she entered the class, she sat down and thought of the questions that ran through her mind. What crime was committed? Who could have committed it and why? What was the question those people were trying to ask her? After pondering about it for a while, she shrugged and thought back to a certain incident that had occurred years ago. Writing down the notes, she thought of the voices that were questioning her those two years ago during that incident. With a soft sigh, she looked down at her notepad and saw that she had not wrote down the notes of her class, but the three words that were repeated over and over. The words that have haunted her ever since she was in elementary school: “Silence is golden.”

Umm... Yeah, hi. ^^;

So, I started my sophomore year at college, and I'm in this beginning fiction writer class, and... this was one of my assignments. It's what we call a short-short story, and basically... you use 1000 words or less, have characters, a movement, and other things like so.

This is what resulted in what I call a failed short-short story, as I suck at making unexpected out unresolved endings, which is what is needed in this. :iconotlplz:

Well... leave a comment and enjoy this... thing.

This story is my own written work! DO NOT STEAL!!!

Heh, Welcome aboard...

Okay, okay... as you all know, college starts tomorrow, so that means we'll all be pretty damn busy. I'll still keep contact, but I'm doing so many classes (one on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and the rest on Tuesday and Thursday) on Tuesday and Thursday that I'll be a bit late... like hours late. :XD:

For those going back to school/college, good luck!

Now... onto more matters... who's heard of a book that the author not only wants rape to be legal in America... but he confesses about him actually raping a woman in his own books? Not I... up until now, thanks to :iconego-man25: (for linking to the original post) and :iconmoonlitinuyasha1985: (for the petition) warned me and a few others about such a thing existing. For more info, go to the link below... and while you're at it, sign the petition to stop Amazon from selling these books. Yes, ya heard me: AMAZON SELLS THESE BOOKS!!

Again, more info below, and it comes with where you can sign the petition.
This is just sick...Look at this tell others about it. -->

Well, if you would excuse me, I'm gonna review The Penguin and the Pebble to get the... mess Amazon decided to get their asses mixed in out of my head, and that's probably the only way to do it: by watching a nonsensical Don Bluth movie! ... seriously, though, I need to do another review to get this shiz outta my head. Humanity, where art thou heading to?

"Hello, one and all," Amaterasu began, opening the show. "I am Amaterasu."

"And I'm Yatagarasu!" Yatagarasu piped up with a smile.

"Today, we're joined by one of our friends," Ama said with a smile. "Well... acquaintance... either way, he's here for this special event we're holding now.”

A Hawaiian surfer dude barged in, saying, "Yo, what's up?  I'm Mao, the surfer dude." He looked around, and said, "So... are we gonna make a top 10, or what?"

"Right, right!" Ama said with a nod. "We need to get started!"

"Here's our Top Ten...," Yata continued, but stopped with a raised eyebrow. "Disney songs, right?"

At that, Mao corrected her. "Actually, it's a double top 5.  You know, of the five best Disney songs, and the five worst." After a pause, he said, "Let's start with the five worst."

"Oh, right," Ama said with a sigh. "Let's get this over with."

"What we are about to show you is what we consider the worst Disney song," Yata said with a smile. "So let's explain why we think they're the five worst songs Disney ever created."

NUMBER FIVE: “Let It Go” from Frozen.

"Huh, why is this here?" Yata asked, confused at the fact that "Let It Go" is number 5.

"It's... overrated," Ama said with a frown. "I mean... song's great, but after hearing so many covers being made and so many people listening... it's gotten old."

"Also," Mao continued, "We get that people aren't supposed to hold back what makes them, well, them and all, but this message has been done so much better in other movies, especially Kung Fu Panda.  There, it taught that while self-improvement wasn't a bad idea, you shouldn't change who you are to reach said self-improvement."

Yeah," Ama said, moving on. "Besides, after singing "Let It Go," she… kinda remains the same through and through. Seriously, the only character development is seen... near the end."

"Well...," Yata said with a sweatdrop. "Yeah, you got a point."

"Right..." Mao said, before continuing, "Let's continue, shall we?"

"Of course, of course," Ama said with a small frown. "We're probably gonna need a drink..."

"Question:" Mao started, "What's Number 4?"

"For me?" Ama and Yata said at the same time. "Oh, it's..."

NUMBER 4: "I'm Gonna Put a Spell On You" from Disney's Hocus Pocus

"Da f*ck did this song come from?" Asked Mao.

"From a movie known as Hocus Pocus," Yata said with a sigh, "and it basically... well... it's about three witches taking children, I guess."

"Oh, who cares?" Ama asked with a sigh. "This song would be number 4 because... well, it's a random-ass beat. I'd rather they keep it slow, but still. It's not quite high because while this is a Disney song, it kinda makes up for it with jazz and backup vocals."

After a pause, Mao said, "Could you guys choose the next song?  I need to think about this..."

"Sure thing," Ama said with a sweatdrop.

"I know the next one!" Yata said with a smile.

NUMBER 3: "A Girl Worth Fighting For" from Mulan

"Y'know...," Ama said with a tilt of a head. "What's the point of this song?"

Mao spoke up. "Well... it's just some song they thrown in to build up to the devastation that was the destroyed village." He added, "Honestly, it was to great effect.  Still, the song is just... lame..."

"So, it's just there?" Ama asked, confused about the song.

"Pretty much," Yata said with a sigh. "Oh well. Next song."

NUMBER 2: Cruella de Vil: Selena Gomez version.

"Did we need a modern remix of such a classic song?" Mao asked.

"Who the hell knows?" Ama said with a sigh. "There have been many remixes of certain songs, but not as much as this."

"And besides," Yata continued, "if you're gonna remix it, you gonna have to respect the original by making it as jazzy as it was."

"Otherwise," Mao said, "you have stuff like this." Sitting down, he said, "Question is, how do you pick the worst Disney song out there?"

"Yeah...," Ama said with a tilt of her head. "There are so many good Disney songs, and some could even be considered the greatest."

"But...," Yata said with a frown. "There are bad ones or ones that ask 'why is it in here?' I think we found it, either way."

"Really?" Mao asked.  "Alright, go nuts.  Seriously, what is it?"

"It's a tie!!" Ama and Yata said together with a smile, which immediately turned into a frown. "We hate it."

AND THE NUMBER ONE WORST DISNEY SONG IS: a tie between "One Mistake" from The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning, and "Kids of the Future" from Meet the Robinsons

"Okay, to get this out the way," Ama began, "these two movies are actually original, and even if Ariel's Beginning is a sequel, it's still got an interesting backstory."

"But these two songs...," Yata continued on. "They are either uninteresting or just plain dumb.</i>”

"First off," Mao said, "for the latter, Kids of the Future, why, oh why, would you make a bastardized version of this following masterpiece?"

"And seriously," Ama said with a sigh. "Who uses a song from a different musical artist and rearrange the music?"

"Many people," Yata said with a sweatdrop.

"No, no, no," Ama said with a tired look. "Disney shouldn't use a song from someone else. I mean... Disney is known for making their own music,</i> and they would always have a meaning</i></u>."

"Speaking of...," Yata said, frowning. "The former song, known as "One Mistake" is a Disney Villain song. Why would a Disney villain song be placed number 1 alongside an ending credits song? Simple: the song is about getting Sebastian's job</i></u>. Really, Disney...? The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride had "My Lullaby," Aladdin: The Return of Jafar had "You're Only Second Rate," and friggin' Aladdin and the 40 Thieves had "Are You In or Out." This sequel is great, but the villainess and her song are terrible</i></u>."

"Man, that is a mouthful..." Mao said.

"Pretty much," Ama said with a sigh. "But these two songs are just terrible."

"Agreed," Yata said with a frown.

"Well..." Mao said, "good thing we got the crap out of the way."

"No kidding," Ama said as she rubbed her temple.

"Time for the top 5 Best Disney songs!" Yata exclaimed, happy to move on.

"Thank God for that..." Mao replied.

"I know, right?" Ama said, rubbing her head. "So... what's number 5?"

NUMBER 5: “A Friend Like Me” from Aladdin

"Man, I love this song," Ama said with a smile.

"Robin Williams, you will be missed," Yata said with a slight nod.

"Anyways," Ama moved on, ""A Friend Like Me" is basically saying that anything you desire is his command, the genie who you befriend over the course of time. Back it up with some jazz, and you got this song."

"We could have went with the title song, or A Whole New World," Mao explained, "but then we realized that the best songs are sometimes the ones that you memorize the most.  And if Robin Williams was anything, he was certainly this in spades."

"Yeah," Ama said with a smile. "If you feel down, just listen to this song. So much effort was put in here."

"Enough of that, though," Yata said with a smile. "Time to move on to Number 4!"

NUMBER 4: “Bare/Bear Necessities” from Jungle Book

"Okay, how can you not like this song?" Ama asked with a small smile.

"Sung by Baloo the Bear himself," Yata continued, "he teaches Mowgli – as well as the children and adults watching the movie – that we need to relax from time to time, all while he gives us a few tips."

Mao spoke up. "From numbing a tree to peeling a fruit, this song just makes you wanna dance and sing, ya know?"

"Well, of course!" Ama and Yata said at the same time.

"Alright..." Mao said, "What's number 3?"

NUMBER 3: "Friends On the Other Side" from Princess and the Frog

"This song...," Yata said with a smile. "This song."

"Who knew the voice actor of Goliath from Disney’s The Gargoyles actually can sing?" Ama said with a tilt of her head. "Either way, a song that goes from talking about his world and who he is to friggin' transforming Naveen into a frog with his voodoo!"

"Throw jazz in the mix," Yata continued on, "and you get a song that even you friends, whether they're on your side or the other side, will enjoy."

"The words were taken right out of my mouth." Mao said.

"Anything you wanna add, Mao?" Ama and Yata asked, looking at him.

"Nah..." Mao replied.

"Eh, okay, "Ama said with a shrug.

"What's number 2 on the list?" Yata asked, looking at Mao.

NUMBER 2: Make A Man Out Of You, from Mulan

"Yes," Mao said, "the same movie that had one of the least impactful songs in Disney history, also had one of the greatest."

"Not only that," Yata continued with a smile, "but this song has various characters singing."

"Aside from that," Ama said with a sweatdrop, "this song shows us how each character... well, major ones, to be precise, can work their asses off to defeat the Huns."

"Also," Mao continued, "this song is extremely memorable, making it so that after only listening to it a few times, you WILL know all the lyrics presented to you, no questions asked."

"Pretty much," Ama said with a nod. "Even as adults, we know the lyrics."

"Let's get down to business," Yata sang with a smirk, "to defeat the Huns!"

"See?" Ama said to the audience with a small smile.

"Finally, it's just a good song in general." Mao finished off.

"Now, let's move on," Ama said with a smile.

NUMBER ONE SONG: "Circle of Life" from The Lion King

Mao spoke up. "You KNEW this song was going to be on here."

"No kidding," Ama said with a shrug. "Not only is this a classic, but it tells us all of... well, what else? The circle of life."

"Along with that," Yata continued with a smile, "Disney uses their 2D animation to its advantage here and show us - the viewers - just how GRAND the circle of life is all while showing us many animals, including our protagonist Simba himself... as a cub, of course."

"More than that," Mao continued, "It's really symbolic for the movie as a whole."
After a pause, he continued, "You see, back in the early 90's, there were two movies that were being developed for Disney: Pocahontas, and The Lion King. They had put most of their attention on Pocahontas, since that was the movie that they thought would help bring Disney back into the swing of being the best cartoon movie-maker ever, whereas The Lion King was more of just a side project, the movie they didn't really care so much about. To them, this movie would just make a few bucks for them and have them move on."
Leaning back, he sighed, "When Pocahontas was released, people really couldn't care less about that movie, whereas The Lion King is one of the greatest Disney movies ever made.  And with a grand opening like this, it's not hard to see why."

"Wow," Yata said with an amazed expression. "Who knew the greatest Disney movie ever made back in the 90s was just a simple side project whereas they thought Pocahontas was going to be the greatest Disney movie."

"With a name that means either "spoiled child" or "the naughty one,"" Ama said with a sigh, "I don' think there was a way that movie would pass, especially since Disney didn't do their research on the history of Pocahontas, AKA: Matoaka."

"Magnum Opus Dissonance, if you would." Mao said.

"Right," Ama and Yata agreed with a nod.

"And I think that's about it." Mao said.

"That's about right," Yata said with a nod.

"With that, I'm Amaterasu," Ama said with a slight wave.

"And I'm Yatagarasu!" Yata jumped in as she waved.

"Now have a nice day." Mao said.
